Wow ! I did not know this piece of history.Bramall lane is the first ground I visited on my first visit to uk in 1998.As a die hard soccer fan I flew in from Amsterdam direct to Sheffield airport on a cold winter morning just days before Christmas.I was visiting my wife who was studying at Sheffield Hallam uni. and after shaking off my jet lag all I wanted to see was Hillsborough stadium because of the tragic stampede history. After a few pints at the Meadowhall complex I first visited the Don valley stadium then took pictures at the peace gardens. I took a walk to Bramall lane just past the church and found very good groundsmen working on the pitch and took pictures of me which I treasure up to now. The funny thing is that I ended up a WEDNESDAY fan,THE OWLS !! The day Paulo dicanio pushed the ref. to the ground against Arsenal I was in some pub in the Steel city. I still have fond memories of Sheffield and even the time I spent 7 years in London(2001-2007) I would visit Sheffield regurlarly..How sad the OWLS and the BLADES are in the lower leagues.
